Poole Ferry Routes
Two routes are operated from Poole to France, one to Cherbourg and a second to St Malo.
Poole Ferry to Cherbourg
Two operators currently offer sailings on the route between Poole and Cherbourgh – Brittany Ferries and Condor Ferries. Between them they run up to 9 sailings per week during the peak season, with the journey taking around 4.5 hours on average. Prices start at just over £100 one-way if you’re taking a vehicle and a little over £40 if you’re travelling as a foot passenger.

Poole Ferry to St Malo
Condor Ferres it the sole ferry operator on the Poole to St Malo crossing. The journey time is longer at over 6 hours, but it may be a better destination if you’re holidaying in southern France. Tickets including a vehicle start from under £300 return and the foot passenger fare is extremely good value at just over £45 each way.

Facilities at Poole Ferry Port
Poole Ferry Port boasts a range of facilities including a Bureau de change, restaurant, luggage trolleys, showers, toilets and facilities for nursing mothers. They also have specialist vehicles to transport foot passengers with limited mobility to and from the ferries.
An overnight parking area for both cars and caravans is located directly opposite the foot passenger hall.
Dogs on leads are permitted within the port area, but not in any terminal buildings.

Getting to Poole
The Poole ferry terminal is located just a few miles off the A31 and is on the opposite mainland to Poole Quay. The Port address is Poole Ferry Terminal, New Harbour Road, Poole, BH15 4AJ
🚗 By car: If you’re travelling on the M3, take the M27 exit after Eastleigh and head in the direction of Ringwood. The M27 will merge into the A31 just after Cadnam. At Merley roundabout take the 1st exit on to the A349 and follow it south to Poole. If travelling from the west, join the A350 from the M4 and follow it south to Poole.
🚈 By train: Poole train station is around a 25 – 30 minute walk from the ferry terminal. Services are available from London Waterloo via Southampton, with the journey taking just over 2 hours.

The ferry from Poole to Cherbourg usually takes 4.5 hours, however faster crossings are often made available during peak season.
The crossing to St Malo takes around 6 to 7 hours on average with Condor Ferries.
Poole port has a car park directly opposite the foot passenger hall. It operates a pay on foot system, with prices starting at £1 for up to 1 hour and rising to £15 for a 24 hour period. Overnight caravans and campers are charged a flat £15 fee.
